Home › Forums › FABRIC General Questions and Discussion › Fail to launch “default” JupyterHub server for brand new account
My student created a FABRIC account and tried to launch the JupyterHub server for the first time, but it kept failing to launch with “Spawn failed: Timeout” and the following error:
seems that you cannot launch a JupyterHub server unless you already already have a correctly configured JupyterHub environment 😉
(She was able to launch the ‘old’ JupyterHub server, which does not try to set bastion key permissions in jupyter_startup.py.)
(related question – is that jupyter_startup.py anywhere in the fabric-testbed Github? I thought it should be https://github.com/fabric-testbed/jupyternb-setup but that hasn’t been updated in a while, and neither branch matches what’s currently on the “default” server.)
Thank you for reporting this! It’s a bug, for now I have patched the JH with the fix. I will push it to the github repo as well.
Thanks,
Komal
