Dear Experimenters,
We are in the process of enabling IPv6 on the management network of FABRIC-MASS node.
Currently management connections (ie. ssh to VMs) use an IPv4 subnet that limits the max number of VMs provisioned on MASS due to available public IP addresses. We are planning to overcome this limitation by using an IPv6 subnet. We are working with UMass-Amherst for this network change. Today (Feb 12) at 1pm EST, a brief interruption will occur on the management network (public ssh to VMs) for a physical change.
We will share the upcoming steps and maintenance events on this thread. In order to receive email notifications, subscribing to this thread is suggested, as well as periodically checking the page online will be beneficial to view the updates.
March 18, 2024 at 12:24 pm #6842Starting from next week (3/25), we will start the work on FABRIC-MASS to enable IPv6 management network. Updates will be posted on this thread.
We are also in the process of enabling IPv6 (management network) on MAX and TACC nodes to eliminate the limit for floating IP addresses. Information about those sites will be shared on separate threads.
March 26, 2024 at 12:24 pm #6871Dear Experimenters,
We are planning to execute the maintenance on FABRIC-MASS on April 9th to enable IPv6 on the management network.
This will be a disruptive maintenance that we will delete all VMs on April 8th.We will continue sharing updates on this thread. In order to receive email notifications, subscribing to this thread is suggested. Periodically checking the page online will be beneficial to view the updates.
April 22, 2024 at 6:58 pm #6940Work on MASS node is completed. FABRIC-MASS is using IPv6 addresses on the management network (ssh to VMs).
We have a minor issue that we are still working with the campus. Brief interruptions on the management network may occur in the next few days.April 24, 2024 at 5:35 pm #6943Management network traffic (ssh to VMs) is currently interrupted and VMs are not reachable. We are working with the campus.
April 26, 2024 at 12:46 pm #6950The issue is not resolved yet. FABRIC-MASS is taken into maintenance mode to isolate. Work is in progress.
May 6, 2024 at 7:30 pm #6993Dear Experimenters,
