Hi all, I wanted to share some good news: after two years of development, the Patchwork system is being fully released and a paper on Patchwork is being presented later this month at IMC. Patchwork is a tool for profiling the network’s dataplane on FABRIC. You can use Patchwork to find out what type of traffic is crossing your slice, to evaluate, diagnose or debug your research prototypes on FABRIC.

A huge congrats goes to the Patchwork contributors, all of whom you met at KNIT at one time or another: Nishanth, Hyunsuk, Bjoern, Prajwal, and Sean. A huge thanks goes to the many people who helped us along the way and to the project’s funders, acknowledged in our paper.

You can find the paper and repo at our project page: https://packetfilters.cs.iit.edu/patchwork/

We look forward to giving a Patchwork tutorial at KNIT11 next week, and the materials are already accessible on the project page. Huge kudos to Nishanth for developing this tutorial and for his work on Patchwork.

The work on Patchwork and its dashboard (more on this below) has given us lots of interesting ideas for research projects, and you’re welcome to reach out to collaborate or join the team to do a PhD on a related topic.

Finally, we also developed a dashboard for Patchwork, which you can see at the link below. Every few days, Patchwork runs across FABRIC and automatically updates the dashboard.
