On December 10–11, 2025, the 2025 Internet2 Technology Exchange was held in Denver, Colorado, bringing together global Research and Education (R&E) community members for expert-led sessions across multiple technical tracks. As part of the program, Anita Nikolich presented two sessions highlighting critical challenges and insights for R&E cyberinfrastructure. On December 11, a session in the Information Security track introduced PQSee, a new network instrument designed to measure post-quantum cryptography (PQC) adoption by analyzing network protocols, identifying at-risk cryptography, and prioritizing PQC migration efforts within high-performance computing (HPC) and R&E environments. Earlier, on December 10, a session in the Advanced Networking track shared findings from the first comprehensive analysis of U.S.-based R&E networks, examining funding models, governance structures, populations served, and the essential role of social relationships in shaping network ecosystems. Together, these sessions underscored both the technical and organizational complexities facing R&E networks, while reinforcing the importance of open, collaborative approaches to security, connectivity, and long-term infrastructure resilience.
