We’re making LoomAI generally available to the FABRIC community.
LoomAI first shipped as an early-access tool for KNIT 12 attendees at the University of Hawaii. Their feedback shaped a handful of changes we’ve rolled in since, and now we’re opening it up to everyone.
What it is
LoomAI is the new recommended way to use FABRIC. It’s an AI-augmented interface that runs as a Docker container on your laptop. You get a visual topology editor, an AI assistant, file transfers to and from your VMs, and an embedded JupyterLab, all wired into your existing FABRIC project.
The embedded JupyterLab runs your existing legacy artifacts and notebooks. There’s also a built-in marketplace, backed by the FABRIC artifact manager, where you can publish what you’ve built or pull down work other people have shared.

Three short videos to get you running
We’ve published the first three tutorials on YouTube. Each one is around five minutes and stays on a single topic, so you can grab whatever you need without scrubbing through a long video.

- Setting Up LoomAI (uploading your FABRIC token and generating keys): https://youtu.be/GaKENTin4bc

More LoomAI videos are on the way over the next several weeks and months: the AI assistant, the artifact marketplace, GPU workflows, file transfers, the visual topology editor, troubleshooting, and more. If you’d like to know when new LoomAI tutorials go up, please consider subscribing to the FABRIC YouTube channel and turning on the bell. The channel is here, and we’d love to have you along for the ride: https://www.youtube.com/@fabrictestbed
Upcoming LoomAI webinar
We’re hosting a LoomAI webinar on May 19, 2026, 3:00 to 4:30 PM ET, as part of the FABRIC Tips & Tricks series. The session is titled “Getting Started with LoomAI: A Visual, AI-Powered Interface for FABRIC Experimentation”.
We’ll do a live walkthrough of the tool: the drag-and-drop topology editor, the embedded SSH terminals and file manager, the geographic resource map, the AI assistant, and Weaves and the Artifact Marketplace. All AI features run on FABRIC-hosted models, so nothing leaves the testbed. The LoomAI developers will be there, so bring your questions for the live Q&A at the end.

Dedicated LoomAI forum
We’ve also spun up a dedicated subforum for LoomAI questions, bug reports, feature ideas, and general community discussion: https://learn.fabric-testbed.net/forums/forum/loomai/
If you want a heads-up when new threads land there, subscribe to that subforum directly. That’s the fastest way to keep up with what’s being asked, what’s being fixed, and what other users are building with LoomAI.
