FABRIC Bastion Host Updates

A new Bastion Load Balancing feature has been implemented in FABRIC. This change requires a minor update on a user’s part.

• We have added a new hostname called bastion.fabric-testbed.net that you can use in place of bastion-1 and bastion-2.
• Both bastion-1 and bastion-2 both will also point to bastion.fabric-testbed.net which in turn points to the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the two bastions.
• It is preferred that you switch to using bastion.fabric-testbed.net as your bastion host.
• When using bastion.fabric-testbed.net/bastion-1.fabric-testbed.net/bastion-2.fabric-testbed.net, you may be using any one of the FABRIC bastion hosts selected by your local DNS servers.

NOTE: Your current bastion setup will continue to work even if no change has been made on your part.

Will the official “Configure your Environment” notebook be updated to reflect this new recommendation?

Yes thats the plan. I just updated the Forum page that talks about setting up the environment.

But an FYI, the current names do still work as they are now just CNAMES in DNS pointing to bastion.fabric-testbed.net
