Hi FABRIC Team,
I hope you are doing well. I ran into a slice state issue and would appreciate your help.
In my slice, I attempted to remove an interface from an L2STS network service named “net1-sender-intermediate-router-2”. The operation failed with an error indicating the service requires at least two different sites, and the service was closed automatically.
After this, the slice entered “ModifyError”. I then ran “modify_accept”, and the slice moved to “StableError”. At this point, the problematic network service no longer appears in the slice (so I cannot delete it manually). When I try to submit the slice again, I do not see any new errors, but the slice remains in StableError.
Could you please advise how I can recover the slice to StableOK?
Slice ID: 698e8e21-3926-451f-ad94-24ea5db4a822
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
Best regards,

I hope you are doing well too, and thank you for reaching out with the detailed description.
The slice is currently in a StableError state because some slivers encountered failures during the earlier modification attempt and were subsequently closed. This behavior is intentional: FABRIC reports the slice as StableError to preserve visibility into past sliver failures, even after the problematic resources have been cleaned up.
At this point, since the affected network service has already been closed and no longer appears in the slice, there is no further action required to delete it. Your remaining active resources should continue to function normally, and their operation is not impacted by the slice being in StableError. In other words, this state is informational rather than blocking.
If you would like to proceed with a clean state, the recommended option is to create a new slice with the desired topology. Otherwise, you may continue using the current slice as-is if the active slivers meet your needs.
Please let us know if you have any additional questions or if you’d like help recreating the slice or network service.
Best regards,

Thank you very much for the clarification. If the StableError state is purely informational and does not affect the operation of the remaining resources, that is fine for me.
Just to confirm, while the slice remains in StableError, am I still able to modify the slice (e.g., add or remove services or interfaces), and renew or extend the slice as usual, without any restrictions or side effects?
I just want to be sure there are no limitations before continuing work on this slice.
Thank you again for your help.

Best,
Komal
