      Hello,

I cannot reserve the FIU Edgecore Wedge100BF switch, and several of my slices are stuck in Closing. I would appreciate help from the FABRIC team.

      1. Switch reservation is refused

Every slice that requests the FIU switch fails. In the slice error details, node tofino1 reports “Insufficient resources : [unit]”. The other nodes then report “TicketReviewPolicy: Closing reservation due to failure in slice”, and the links attached to the switch report that their predecessor reservation is in a terminal state. A slice containing only the switch (sw-probe) fails in the same way, so the VMs and links are not the cause. FIU had enough free cores for the request (56 of 640 available, 12 needed).

The portal Resources overview now shows FIU Switch as 0 / 1 and the testbed total as 0 / 5. Earlier today the FIU row showed 1 / 1. The Switch SNMP Stats dashboard shows the Wedge100BF management port (ethernet1/1/3, p4-wedge100bf-32x) carrying only light management traffic at 09:11 IST on 17 October 2026, so I see no sign that another slice is using the switch.

      2. Slices stuck in Closing

I asked for these slices to be deleted, but they remain in Closing. The first one is past its lease end and is still Closing.

An earlier ch3-tofino slice, 785e4d97-62ce-4edb-9ee9-4312274642fb, is Dead with “Insufficient resources : [core]” on its VMs and “[unit]” on tofino1.

      Questions
      1. Is the FIU switch unit held by a reservation, and could any Closing slice above still be holding it?
      2. Can the Closing slices be force-closed so their reservations are released?
      3. Is the FIU switch open to bookings, and is it under maintenance?

The slices were created with FABlib using add_switch(name=”tofino1″, site=”FIU”). I can share the code and logs if that helps.

      Thank you.

        Hi,

        1. Your switch request was rejected because the resource was unavailable, as indicated by the error Insufficient resources: [unit]. We currently have only five Tofino switches, and demand is high. Please check the Resource Calendar in LoomAI for future availability. Because FABRIC is a distributed system, another request may have acquired the switch between the availability check and the processing of your request. I have verified that another slice holds the switch and was created at the similar time when your slice requests were triggered.
        2. All resources associated with slices in the Closing or Dead state are released.

        Best,
        Komal
