      Dear experimenters,

FABRIC will undergo a multi-day, testbed-wide maintenance the week of August 3, 2026. The maintenance will begin Monday, August 3 at 9:00 AM ET. We hope to finish before Friday, August 7, but we are reserving the full week in case the additional time is needed. During this work we will update the full software stack across all sites, including an upgrade of the control framework to release 2.0.0.

This maintenance is needed to patch and update all of our systems in response to the recent increase in security vulnerabilities being discovered by advanced AI tools. Keeping the testbed current on these fixes is the priority driving this window.

All active slices will be deleted during this maintenance and cannot be recovered. Every site will be placed in maintenance mode for the duration, so slice operations (create, extend, delete) will not be possible. Please back up any important data before Monday, August 3.

Your SSH keys, data stored on persistent volumes, and experiment notebooks will remain unaffected.
Both the JupyterHub and Portal services will have brief downtime during this period.

We will post additional details and status updates to this thread. Subscribing to the thread is the best way to receive updates, and we appreciate your patience while we complete the work.

      Best regards,
      The FABRIC Team
