Request VM.NoLimit and Component.SmartNIC tags for project

Hello,

I am the project lead for project titled “Reproducible Surrogates for Inter-Datacenter Networking” (project ID is e6afd62f-9b94-4793-97cb-5a244c44f936).

My experiment is a multi-site data transfer experiments to *emulate* WLCG tier-to-tier links (LHCOPN/LHCONE characteristics) across a few sites (currently the plan is for three sites), using L2PTP circuits with dedicated ConnectX-6 NICs. My workload itself is CMS collision data taken from the CERN Open Data Portal. This will be staged on the nodes, which means that each node needs enough disk to hold multi-GB ROOT files (well beyond the current 10GB cap). I have already developed and deployed our core logic/methodology on Chameleon and other testbeds and have it validated in a non-multi-site setting (but full l2 topology). FABRIC is what makes the multi-site portion of our work possible, which is why the dedicated NICs and larger nodes will be needed.

There are two upcoming FABRIC-community commitments from my end depend on this experiment running:
– MERIF Demo Night on September 29, where I am presenting this work.
– I am also an invited webinar speaker in the “Stitching Together Innovation with FABRIC Users” series scheduled on October 20 (the topics go over fablib multi-site topology with MFLib, L2PTP circuits, and the dedicated ConnectX-6 SmartNICs to realize my experiment).

I am currently facing PDP policy violations when submitting a multi-site slice:

1. “Your project is lacking VM.NoLimitCPU or VM.NoLimit tag to provision VM with more than 2 cores.”
2. “Your project is lacking VM.NoLimitDisk or VM.NoLimit tag to provision VM with disk over 10GB.”
3. “Your project is lacking VM.NoLimitRAM or VM.NoLimit tag to provision VM with more than 10GB of RAM.”
4. “Your project is lacking Component.SmartNIC_ConnectX_6 or Component.SmartNIC tag to provision a VM with ConnectX-6 SmartNIC.”

Could the following tags be added to this project?
– VM.NoLimit

– Component.SmartNIC

– Slice.Multisite
