      It works now.

The intel-ipsec-mb library was needed to build DPDK. Now the crypto features in DPDK are working in the software mode.

Got it. Thanks Ilya for the explanation.

          Hi Ilya,

I was told by the FABRIC team that persistent storage (gaf-storage) can be attached to only one VM.

I am curious about the NAS storage that shows up in Slice Builder. I can attach separate “rotating storage” to each VM. (See the attached screenshot.) I believe this is different from the persistent storage that we requested for a few sites. Please let me know if my understanding is right.

          Thanks,

            Hi Ilya,

I was referring to the local NAS feature for a VM that shows up in the Slice Builder. Essentially, we want to have ample ephemeral storage on a VM to store and process genome sequences using a cluster of VMs (say 8).

Yes, we do have persistent storage capability on some of the sites. But we can’t attach it to multiple VMs. Hence, local NAS is better for us.

            Thanks,

            Praveen

Thanks Komal for letting us know.

                Hi Komal,

When I create a cluster of VMs (e.g., in SALT), I don’t see the above error and the cluster is created successfully. However, when Manas does the same, he is getting the error. Did something get messed up with his account? Could you please check if the error is being caused because there are several Closed slices under his name?

                Any help is much appreciated!

                Thanks,

                Praveen

We could attach one NVMe drive to each VM but can only get 6 VMs in our cluster. We need at least 16 VMs with 1TB storage (on each VM) to run the genomics experiments. Could you please suggest how we can get this done?

Note that we can do large-scale experiments on CloudLab with 16 bare-metal nodes. And we want to reproduce our previous results on FABRIC. Thanks a lot.
